The College World Series brings a vibe unlike any other every summer in Omaha. June is buzzing with NCAA baseball players, fans, and families. Locals have their go-to hangouts for pre- and post-game gatherings that are quintessentially Omaha.
Megan Bengston of Nebraska Realty can be found at The Mattress Factory or the tents set up nearby. The Mattress Factory is a great spot for cooling off after the game or watching the games on the multiple big screen TVs throughout the restaurant. While the menu boasts typical pub fare, it’s far from typical. They make great food to go with the ice cold drinks being sought as respite from the heat.
Justine Skipton and Deda Myhre both enjoy Blatt Beer & Table as a CWS go-to. Justine said, “The Blatt is the best place to be pre- and post CWS! It’s fun and the energy is contagious!” In a spirited concurrence, Deda added, “There is no better spot to celebrate the CWS than Blatt Beer and Table right outside the stadium. A great open air spot to watch the game on TV or mix and mingle with fans from all over who love to talk about the great hospitality in Omaha. The beers and food are awesome too!”
Andy Alloway chooses DJ’s Dugout as the spot of choice and Brian Carlin votes for “anyone else’s grill.” DJ’s Dugout has expanded to several locations around the metro but the one near TD Ameritrade Park is the largest and is a great meeting spot for large groups to get together.
One thing is always true about Omaha: when we host an event like the College World Series, we show up with some of the best hospitality, spirit, and cool vibes sure to leave every visitor eager to adopt Omaha has their home away from home.
